of St. Francis:  Many of the first Tyrolese friars to come to Cincinnati came from the Bozen area and studied at the friars' gymnasium (now 200+ years old) in that city.  Bozen belonged to Austria before WW1, but one of the peace treaties expanded Italy's northern border and brought Bozen into Italy - - hence the double place name.  The OFM's Austrian Tyrolese Province of St. Leopold is headquartered in Innsbruck.  This is the view from the courtyard of their provincial house.

Have you seen the Franciscan Email Directory?

There are a couple of sites for the Sisters of St. Francis: one in Tiffin, OH and another in Philadelphia. They focus on the primary values and objectives outlined by St. Francis, namely, respect for nature, care of the poor and needy, and simple lifestyle. They help the poor in the USA and conduct missionary work in New Guinea and other countries. The sisters get much assistance from "associate" members (similar to deacons).
